Poem
#2: GLASS BOWLS
by Steven Levine - December 1, 1983 |
Glass bowls,
And wishing holes,
Long sunny days,
And cool summer nights,
And hiding teeth under the pillows.
Dinner is ready,
And it's my turn next up at bat;
Got my sneakers caught up on the wires,
And caught a Spaldeen from down in the sewer.
Skully's all right,
But I'd rather fight.
My school money was just stolen,
And down the street a drunk's been rolled
For bitter dollars he never even held,
And drinks he could not even hope to hold.
Icy towers glare above me,
And cold streets lay in front me,
To catch the fleeting warmth.
I must hurry for safety;
I await the glass bowls,
And dream today of wishing holes.
