The International Rett Syndrome Foundation

The International Rett syndrome Foundation (IRSF) is a not-for-profit corporation,which was established in July 2007. Rett syndrome is a unique developmentaldisorder that has been most often misdiagnosed as autism, cerebral palsy, ornon-specific developmental delay. Rett Syndrome is first recognized in infancyand seen almost always in girls, but can be rarely seen in boys. The missionof the IRSF is to focus on research, family support, and advocacy.

Rett syndrome causes problems in brain function that areresponsible for cognitive, sensory, emotional, motor and autonomic function.These can include learning, speech, sensory sensations, mood, movement,breathing, cardiac function, and even chewing, swallowing, and digestion.Having Rett syndrome presents many challenges, but with love, therapyand assistance, those with the syndrome can benefit from school and communityactivities well into middle age and beyond. They experience a full range ofemotions and show their engaging personalities as they take part in social, educational, and recreational activities at home and in the community. 

OOK is sponsoring the International Rett SyndromeFoundation Strollathon on October 30, 2010 in Miami Florida.

A not-for-profit visual arts organization for 49 years, The Art Center (TAC) provides a visual arts education to Highland Park and its surrounding communities, assuring access to the arts for all ages and cultural interests. 
This vigorous community-centered organization inspires tots through seniors to achieve and transform their world through more than 500 classes in photography, oil, watercolor, pastel, and mixed media painting, ceramics, jewelry making, metal smithing, digital arts, fiber art, mosaics, and assemblage offered annually and bring the vitality of national and regional art to the more than 26 surrounding communities it serves through 20 gallery exhibits of contemporary and cutting-edge art each year.

OOK donated conventional picture hangers to The Art Center in Highland Park Illinois for their big Recycle Event on July 30th 2010.

Off-Color Theatre Company is a non-profit theatre company in Philadelphia that is committed to producing original provocative comedy! The theatre company was founded in 2009 to provide opportunities to young and talented artists to learn and explore theevolution of comedy in the Philadelphia area. They strive to educate and entertain through exploration of theatre that is progressive and unique usingall different mediums of comedy.

OOK was proud to sponsor multiple of TheOff-Color Theatre Company’s productions including Bailout! The Live Action Sitcom, American Dreamsicle the Sketch Revue Show, and No-Talent Hacks.

  

Sirens A Capella
Washington, DC

The Sirens are an all female a capella group fromThe George Washington University. The ladies, using only their voices, performsongs of all different genres. Anything from Led Zepplin and John Legend toBritney Spears and Tom Petty the Sirens can do it all!

In 2010 OOK sponsored The Sirens in helping record their new CD titled “How We Do It.” 

   

March Of The Living Photo Exhibit
Miami, Florida

The March Of TheLiving is a is an international, educational program thatbrings Jewish teens from all over the world to Poland on Yom Hashoah, HolocaustMemorial Day, to march from Auschwitz to Birkenau, the largest concentrationcamp complex built during World War II, and then to Israel to observe YomHaZikaron, Israel Memorial Day, and Yom Ha'Atzmaut, Israel Independence Day.

OOK sponsored a photo exhibit displaying the artwork of photographers from the trip.
